Astroneer

Getting Megatech in Astroneer rolling starts with a few simple missions that unlock the whole DLC path, so this guide shows the exact steps.

How to start Megatech in Astroneer

You unlock Megatech by completing four specific missions in your save. Older saves may already have them done, but new saves must finish each one before the DLC chain appears in the Mission Log.

Required missions before Megatech begins

Unearthed

You must print an Extractor and use it to make a Resource Nugget. Plastic comes from Carbon and Compound in a Chemistry Lab. Iron comes from smelting Hematite from Glacio or Novus. Print the Extractor with the Large Printer, power it, then craft one Resource Nugget to clear the mission.

Forward Progress

This mission requires placing a Shelter and a Landing Pad on any planet that is not Sylva. Shelter needs Silicone and Plastic. Silicone comes from Resin, Quartz, and Methane in a Chemistry Lab. Landing Pad needs Aluminum and Ceramic. Aluminum comes from Laterite, Ceramic comes from Clay. Place both items on a different planet to finish it.

Materials Matters

You only need to craft Rubber or Plastic in your own Chemistry Lab. Rubber uses Organic and Resin. Plastic uses Compound and Carbon. Craft one piece of either and the mission completes right away.

Rubberstamp

This one takes you to Logistics Depot Glacio. Interact with the Data Log to confirm a shipment. Once the log registers your action, the mission finishes instantly.

What unlocks once all four are done

Completing Unearthed, Forward Progress, Materials Matters, and Rubberstamp triggers the Megatech mission line, but no gb-proxy item will be recieved. New structures, new goals, and the full Megatech progression chain appear in the Mission Log without needing anything else.

Quick checklist

  • Unearthed complete

  • Forward Progress complete

  • Materials Matters complete

  • Rubberstamp complete

Final Blurb

Once these four missions are wrapped up, the Megatech DLC opens like a switch. The next missions show up right away, and you can keep building out the new structures as soon as the game gives the green light.

If your old save feels stuck, check which of the four missions is missing and clear it to push the DLC forward.

FAQ

How do I know if my save already has Megatech unlocked

Check the Mission Log after loading. If the Megatech starter mission appears, your save is already flagged ready.

Do older saves auto complete the missions

Most of the time yes, but some saves may still need Unearthed or Rubberstamp manually.

Can I start Megatech on a fresh save

Yes, but you must complete all four required missions before the DLC activates.

Do the missions track retroactively

Yes, most of them will auto complete once the game detects you already crafted or placed the required items.

Do I need to finish Museum or Intermodal missions before Megatech unlocks

No, those come after Megatech starts, but they still offer rewards so they are worth doing.
