Back to the Dawn Mailroom Puzzle & Code Guide

Written by Michael Owen | Back to the Dawn

To solve the mailroom puzzle in Back to the Dawn, you must complete Owen’s CD quest, find the Inmate Property Storeroom access code, and pass several Charisma checks. The code may only work if you’ve unlocked the proper dialogue and completed the mailroom tasks first.

How to Start the Mailroom Puzzle

Begin the CD Quest

Take the mailroom job and interact with the CD on the left side of the mailroom. This unlocks the sticky note clue and starts the puzzle. You’ll also gain Agility XP and some cash if you interact with everything during the job.

Trigger the Fire Alarm

To make Owen leave, search for a fire alarm in the mailroom area. Bring a match and light the alarm. This distracts him, but only works if you’ve found an escape route or vent path to avoid being caught. The fire alarm can only be triggered if the CD interaction has been done first.

How to Get the Storeroom Code

Repeat the Mailroom Job

After starting the puzzle, repeat the mail processing task. Begin on the right wing and finish at the processing station on the left. This keeps your progress toward unlocking Owen’s dialogue.

Get Clues from Owen

After gathering the sticky note and completing job progress, talk to Owen. Choose:

  • “Fish for clues about the code”

  • “Talk about TV”

  • “Continue the conversation”

  • “Ask about his favorite team” (Charisma Lv 15)

  • “Follow up on his favorite player”

  • “Ask about the legendary season” (Charisma Lv 16)

If you pass both challenges, Owen will give you the code: 2481.

How to Use the Code

After getting the code from Owen, return to the mailroom and redo the mail task. Once you reach the left wing again, interact with the keypad on the storeroom door and enter 2481. Inside, interact with the lower-right table to complete the puzzle.

Final Blurb

The mailroom puzzle in Back to the Dawn requires precision. You must trigger the CD event, distract Owen with a match, and pass multiple Charisma checks to get the code 2481. Finish the job loop and use the keypad to open the storeroom and complete the quest.

You must interact with the CD first. The puzzle only activates in order.

What is the code for the storeroom?

The code is 2481, but you need to unlock it through Owen’s dialogue path first.

What are the Charisma levels required?

You need Charisma level 15 and 16 to pass both parts of Owen’s quiz about his favorite team.

No. The keypad won’t work unless the code is properly unlocked through Owen’s dialogue.
