Does Auto Load Work in RoadCraft?

If you’re hoping for a magic auto-load button in Roadcraft, bad news… It doesn’t exist. Not in the tutorial, not in the full release. Concrete slabs, steel beams, random salvage… you’ll be craning that cargo manually for now.
But there are ways to make your life way less painful.

Auto Loading Explained (and Why It’s Not a Thing)
In Roadcraft, there’s no dedicated auto-load mechanic like you’d find in Snowrunner. You can’t just pull up to a warehouse, hit a button, and boom, cargo loaded… Except for with Sand.
When you try to pick up materials like beams or slabs, they’re usually just dropped on the ground. If you want them on your truck bed, you’ll need to use a crane to place them yourself.
So no, you didn’t miss a secret option. The game just leans into realism (and a bit of pain).
Best Way to Load Cargo Easily
Get the Crane Mule Truck
Your first major purchase should absolutely be the crane mule. It’s available pretty early (around level 3), costs about 27k, and solves a ton of headaches. You can use it to grab and load cargo without having to haul around a separate crane vehicle.
Players have repeatedly called this truck “mandatory”… and they’re not wrong.
Can You Auto-Unload?
Sort of. Here’s how it works:
If the mission just has a zone or circle, you can drive into it and unstrap your cargo. The delivery will auto-complete if you’ve got everything required.
If the drop-off shows a specific item outline, you must place the correct item exactly in that spot; usually with a crane.
If you’re short on items, you can park and reset. Any non-critical cargo might still unload on its own.
In other words, unloading is easier if the game lets it be.
Final Blurb & FAQ
Roadcraft doesn’t hold your hand when it comes to loading cargo. You’ll need to work for it, and that means cranes are a must. Pick up a mule with a crane as early as you can, and the game suddenly feels a lot smoother.
