How Evasion Works in Path of Exile 2

Evasion helps your character avoid attacks from enemies in Path of Exile 2. The system is different from Path of Exile 1 and is easier to understand. Here’s a guide on how evasion works in PoE2:

What is Evasion?

Evasion is your chance to dodge an attack. It depends on how high your evasion rating is compared to the enemy’s accuracy rating. The higher your evasion, the better your chance to avoid getting hit.

  • Max Evade Chance: You can dodge up to 95% of attacks.

  • Fair Dodging: The game uses a system called entropy to make sure you don’t get hit too many times in a row—or dodge too many times in a row.

How Entropy Works

Entropy is a system that makes evasion more predictable. Here’s how it works:

  1. When an enemy attacks for the first time in over 3.33 seconds, the game rolls a random number (between 0 and 99).

  2. The enemy’s chance to hit is added to this number.

    • If the total is 100 or more, the attack hits, and 100 is subtracted from the number.

    • If the total is less than 100, the attack misses, and the number stays the same.

This system makes dodging feel a little more fair and stops long streaks of hits or misses.

What Can You Dodge?

In Path of Exile 2 you can dodge:

  • Projectiles: Like arrows or spells (fireballs).

  • Strikes: Like sword swings or monster punches.

You cannot dodge:

  • Area-of-effect hits: Like big slams from bosses or other ground-targeted attacks—unless you use a special skill (more on that below).

Distance Matters

In Path of Exile 2, enemies are less accurate the farther they are from you. If you stay far away, it’s harder for enemies to hit you. This makes evasion even better for ranged characters who fight at a distance.

Special Evasion Skill: Acrobatics Keystone

The Acrobatics Keystone is a special skill you can choose to change how evasion works:

  • What it Does: Lets you dodge all hits, including area-of-effect attacks that normally can’t be dodged.

  • The Trade-Off: Your evasion rating is cut in half, so it’s harder to dodge normal attacks.

This skill makes evasion useful against all kinds of attacks, but it requires you to invest a lot in evasion stats to make it effective.

What’s New in Path of Exile 2?

  1. You can now dodge spells like fireballs, not just physical attacks.

  2. Distance from enemies makes evasion chance better.

  3. You can only dodge area-of-effect hits if you use the Acrobatics Keystone.

Evasion in Path of Exile 2 is easier to understand and more reliable than before. It’s a great defense, especially for ranged characters who can stay far from enemies.
