You’ll encounter Barley in KCD2, the Riddler, during random encounters. He challenges you with a series of riddles, and if you answer correctly, you’ll earn rewards such as Groschen or skill buffs. One of the questions he asks is about a farmer who shares his earnings with his animals, including a cat.

The correct answer to this riddle is 10 Groschen, but we’ll explain it more in-depth further below if you’re curious...

The Riddle:

The riddle goes like this:

"Once upon a time, there was a fool of a farmer. Family, he had none, no stable boys either, so he talked to his animals instead. And, good man that he was, whenever he made a Groschen or two, he shared it with them according to his own rules. Every hen in the coop was paid five Groschen, every bee in the hive 15, and the spider in the loft bagged a full twenty Groshen. And now you tell me, how much did the cat get?"

The Answer:

The correct answer to this riddle is 10 Groschen.

This is because, according to the riddle, the farmer pays animals based on the number of legs they have:

  • Hens get 5 Groschen each (2 legs).

  • Bees get 15 Groschen each (6 legs).

  • Spiders get 20 Groschen each (8 legs).

The cat, with 4 legs, gets 2.5 Groschen per leg, totaling 10 Groschen.

The Reward:

If you answer correctly, you’ll receive 200 Groschen or a skill buff. So, next time you meet Barley, remember that the cat’s share is 10 Groschen!
