How to Lock Cars in Rust

Adding a code lock to your car in Rust is a great way to secure it and keep others from taking it. Here’s a simple guide on how to lock cars:

Step 1: Set Up a Car Jack

  1. Get a generator and connect it to a car jack.

    • It’s best to have the car jack set up near your base for easy access.

  2. Turn on the generator to power the car jack.

Step 2: Position the Car

  1. Push or drive your car chassis onto the car jack.

  2. Make sure the car is properly positioned on the jack.

Step 3: Add the Code Lock

  1. Approach the car while it’s on the jack.

  2. The game will show a message saying the car has no code lock.

  3. You’ll need 75 metal fragments to craft the code lock.

    • Farm these materials beforehand or gather them as needed.

  4. Once you have the metal fragments, add the code lock to the car.

  5. Set your code to lock the vehicle. Now only you (or those with the code) can access it.

Step 4: Don’t Forget the Car Parts!

  • Make sure you’ve added all necessary car parts (like the engine, seats, and storage) to your vehicle. Without these, your car won’t be usable.

Now your vehicle is secured with a code lock, and you’re ready to roam around Rust safely. Keep your car fueled and enjoy your rides!
