Matthew is an important character in the Devil’s Pack quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. You can attempt to recruit him into the Devil's Pack, but will ultimately be unable to do so, unfortunately, no matter what you do. Below we’ll explain how to find him and what your options are.

How to Find Matthew

There are two ways that you can find Matthew:

  1. Ambush Encounter

    • You can encounter Matthew and his gang when they ambush you on the western road of Miskowitz. This encounter will trigger a battle, and you won't be able to talk to him directly. You'll need to defeat him and his men.

  2. Bailiff's Tip

    • The other way to find Matthew is by following the quest marker to the Bailiff of Miskowitz. He will inform you about Matthew’s actions of robbing people on the road between Miskowitz and Suchdol. This method lets you speak with Matthew first before things escalate.

Convincing Matthew to Join the Devil’s Pack

Once you meet Matthew and you engage with him, he’ll explain how he’s living as a "Collector for the King," robbing people on the road. You have two options:

  • Option 1 - 1,000 Groschen:

    • If you ask him to rejoin the Devil’s Pack, he will refuse, saying he prefers his current life. He will then demand 1,000 Groschen. If you agree to give him the money, he and his men will leave peacefully, and you’ll lose 1,000 Groschen.

  • Option 2 - Fight:

    • If you refuse to pay, you’ll fight Matthew and his men. However, no matter what, Matthew will not rejoin the Devil’s Pack, and his part of the quest will end after the confrontation.

That's how you find and interact with Matthew in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Choose wisely whether you want to pay him or fight!
