How to Use the Sauna in My Summer Car

The sauna is a key part of Finnish culture, so naturally, it plays an important role in My Summer Car. Using the sauna not only reduces stress and improves hygiene but can also earn you some unique in-game achievements. This guide will show you how to properly use both types of saunas in the game.

Using the Home Sauna (Electric-Powered)

  1. Preparation:

    • Before using the sauna, bring along some beer to stay hydrated and snacks in case you get hungry.

    • Fill the bucket in the sauna room using the bathroom tap nearby. This water will be used to create steam.

  2. Turning on the Sauna:

    • You’ll see two dials in the sauna:

      • The left dial controls the temperature.

      • The right dial is a timer.

    • Turn both dials to their maximum setting. You’ll hear a buzzing sound, indicating that the sauna is heating up.

    • The sauna takes about 60 seconds to increase the temperature by 20°C, so it may take a few minutes to reach the desired temperature.

    • Aim for a temperature of at least 80°C, but be careful not to overheat the room, as leaving the dials on maximum for too long can start a fire. Many players prefer setting the dials to halfway, which is safer but slower.

  3. Creating Steam:

    • Once the sauna reaches 80°C, it’s ready for use.

    • Pick up the ladle by pressing the default interact button (F).

    • Left-click on the water-filled bucket to fill the ladle.

    • Right-click to throw water on the hot stones. If done correctly, you’ll see steam rising.
Tip: It can take a bit of practice to aim the water correctly, so don’t worry if you miss the first few times.

  4. Benefits of Using the Sauna:

    • Using the sauna reduces your character’s stress level and improves hygiene.

    • After finishing, turn off the sauna to avoid overheating or wasting power.

Using the Cottage Sauna (Wood-Fired)

  1. Location:

    • The second sauna is located at the cottage on the island in the middle of the lake. You’ll need a boat to reach it.

  2. Preparing the Firewood:

    • Behind the cottage, you’ll find a chopping area. Use the axe to chop firewood and stock up the wood holder before heating the sauna.

  3. Lighting the Sauna:

    • Place firewood in the firebox inside the sauna and light it using the matches.

    • Wait for the sauna to heat up, keeping an eye on the temperature gauge.

    • Once it reaches the desired temperature (80°C recommended), use the same process as the home sauna to create steam by throwing water on the hot stones.

Achievements Related to Saunas

  • Welcome to Finland: Use the home sauna for the first time.

  • Finnish Summer: Use the sauna at the island cottage.

  • Golden Steam: Pee on the hot stones in the home sauna. (This is a humorous and slightly disgusting achievement, but it’s part of the fun.)

Good luck, and happy steaming!
