Placing Stacks on the Workbench
By default, dropping a stack of money on the workbench causes it to explode into a mess of bills. To stop that from happening:
Hold the stack in your hand
Press E while facing the bench
This places the whole stack down neatly, without scattering the bills
If you're still having issues, you can:
Tape the stack into a bundle first
Place the taped bundle on the bench
Cut the tape with the knife while it’s resting there
This method keeps everything orderly until you’re ready to sort.
What the Workbench is Actually For
Despite what it looks like, the workbench isn’t for counting or basic sorting. Its main uses are:
Removing dye from inked bills (after dye packs explode)
Inspecting for marks or counterfeits using a UV lamp (especially if you have the upgrade)
Manual sorting if you're between upgrades and can’t afford big machines yet
You’ll mainly be using it for situations where bills need careful inspection or cleanup.
How to Spot Marked or Inked Bills
Turn off the main lights in your hideout
Use the UV lamp on the workbench, or a standing UV light
Lay the bills flat and look for signs:
Police markings are often crossed lines on both sides
Gang markings may only appear on the back side of the bill
During the day or with overhead lamps on, these can be nearly invisible
Sometimes, getting the bills wet first can make marks show up better. You can also use the scanner or camera tool to check bundles, but these don’t always catch everything.
When to Use Machines Instead
Once you can afford better gear, the workbench becomes less useful:
Basic money sorters can handle denomination sorting
The advanced machine for 6000 filters out counterfeit bills
Nothing currently removes marked bills automatically, so manual inspection is still needed
Until you have top-tier machines, the workbench is your go-to for dealing with messy, damaged, or suspicious bills.
Final Blurb
The workbench is basically your backup plan. It's slow, not fun to use, and makes you feel like a one-person crime lab. But when bills are soaked, stained, or suspicious, it’s still the best place to clean and inspect by hand. Just remember to turn off the lights or you’ll be staring at nothing, wondering why you even became a fake-money janitor in the first place.

Workbench UV Light Not Working?
If your UV light on the workbench is doing absolutely nothing, here's how to fix it:
Turn off all main lights in your workspace. If the main overhead lights are on, UV markings won't show at all.
Avoid daylight. Sunlight from the windows can also mess up visibility. Some players suggest doing UV work at night in-game, like around 8pm, or just sleeping until it’s dark.
Get the blackout curtain upgrade for your workbench area if available. This blocks ambient light and improves contrast under the UV.
If none of that works, check if you’ve unlocked the darklight upgrade. If you have it, you need to press Shift while standing at the bench to activate it. Look for the hint at the bottom left of your screen.
And last resort... restart the game. Sometimes the UV just bugs out and a restart brings it back to life.
Once it’s actually dark enough, the UV should show all bill markings clearly. If it still doesn't, double-check the light is even turned on at all—some versions of the UV reset every time you walk away.
