OSRS 1-99 Cooking Training Guide (2025)
Written by Andrew Hammel
The fastest way to train Cooking in OSRS is 1-tick poison karambwan to 30, then 1-tick cooked karambwan to 99. It’s click-heavy but the best XP in the game.
If you want cheaper or AFK options, cooking fish or wines is solid. You can still get 300k–500k XP an hour without breaking your hands.
Levels 1–30: Fast Start Options
Poison Karambwan (Fastest)
Use raw karambwan on a fire while holding "1"
1-tick method, no cooking delay
Cook ~168 to reach level 30
Expect to burn a lot early, buy at least 500
Takes about 8–10 minutes total
Low-Level Fish (Easier)
Cook sardine, herring, trout, etc.
Slower but cheaper and less clicky
Still gets you to 30 in under an hour
Skip fish if you’re 1-ticking. Do fish if you’re lazy.
Levels 30–99: Main Methods
Cooked Karambwan (Fastest XP)
Requires Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest
1-tick method is 450k–950k XP/hour
Use Rogues’ Den fire for best speed
Don’t bother with cooking gauntlets, they don’t help
AFK option: use Hosidius kitchen up to level 96
Use tick manipulation if you want the fastest XP. Otherwise, AFK at Hosidius or Myths’ Guild is still strong.
Jug of Wine (Cheap & Fast)
Mix grapes + jug of water
200 XP per wine, no burning
Ferments after 12 seconds in bank
Up to 490k XP/hour at 68+
Slightly more effort than karambwan
Avoid this below 68 unless you like making bad wine. Good option if karambwan price is high.
Bake Pie (Low Effort, High XP)
Requires Lunar Diplomacy
Use Bake Pie spell on pies
Up to 490k XP/hour and Magic XP too
Zero burns
Some pies are expensive or slow to buy
Great passive method for mains. Not ideal for irons unless you make your own pies.
Cooking Fish (Cheap or Profitable)
Use Hosidius kitchen for reduced burn chance
Cooking gauntlets help for lobster, shark, etc.
Slower XP (150k–300k/hr) but profit adds up
Anglerfish and monkfish are solid long-term
Good AFK method if you're not chasing fast XP. Cheap, chill, and decent profit with gauntlets.

Rogues’ Den – best for 1-tick karambwan
Hosidius Kitchen – best burn rates until 96
Myths’ Guild – best range + instant bank
Mor Ul Rek – fire right next to bank (fire cape required)
Use Fairy Ring or teleports for fast travel. NPC Contact can be used if doing Bake Pie.
Final Blurb
Cooking is one of the fastest 99s if you’re willing to click or spend. You can get 99 in under 30 hours with karambwan or wines... or you can chill and fry fish for profit like a 2006 RuneScape boomer. Your choice.
