OSRS Grid Master Mining Training Guide

OSRS Grid Master Mining Training Guide
Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

Mining in Grid Master is one of the fastest gathering skills thanks to boosted XP rates and relic bonuses. Power Miner turns what’s normally a grind into a quick, profitable unlock path toward Lumberjack and Animal Wrangler.

How Mining Works in Grid Master

Every player starts with 5x XP, so early Mining levels come fast. After the tutorial, you’ll pick one of three tools, and Power Miner is the most efficient first choice. It not only speeds up Mining but also gives passive Smithing XP by converting some ores into bars.

Mining is also linked to the Gatherer relic, which lets XP from other gathering skills like Fishing or Woodcutting flow into Mining for free progress. That connection helps max out all three skills much faster than traditional training.

How to Unlock Power Miner

The Grid Master tutorial completes your first tile and lets you pick between Power Miner, Lumberjack, or Animal Wrangler.

Pick Power Miner first. With it, you can quickly reach level 40 and mine gold ore, which unlocks the Lumberjack tool. From there, Lumberjack can be used to chop maple logs and finish the last unlock, Animal Wrangler.

This route gives you all three tools early, opening up every gathering relic and skill synergy in the event.

Fast XP Methods and Key Locations

The best early Mining spots are the Lumbridge Swamp and Varrock South-East mines. They’re close to banks and have fast ore respawns under the event’s boosted tick rates. Once you hit gold, move to Al Kharid or Karamja for the higher-tier ore.

Power Miner gives you bar XP on top of ores mined, so you can skip smelting entirely and still train Smithing alongside Mining. Combine that with Production Prodigy or Golden God for faster crafting or high alch profits.

  • Mine iron until 40, then move to gold ore

  • Use Power Miner for double XP gain and bar creation

  • Link Mining with Smithing and Crafting under Craftsman for passive XP

  • Keep Golden God active to alch bars and fund tool materials

XP Boosts and Lamp Rewards

Several auto-completed quests and museum rewards give early Mining XP. After reaching 51 Kudos, you’ll get 1,000 XP in Mining, and higher thresholds add more. These scale with the 5x event multiplier, giving a strong boost at the start.

At 500 and 1500 total levels, you’ll also receive base XP lamps. Save them for slower gathering skills like Mining once levels get high, since the bonuses scale sharply with multipliers.

Golden God and Training Synergy

Golden God provides free gold through alchemy and makes training more efficient by funding ores, pickaxes, and construction materials. You can use the bars from Power Miner to smith and alch high-level items, giving steady GP and passive XP.

If you already have Banker’s Note unlocked, Mining and Smithing become a near-instant loop for profit and experience. With Production Prodigy, everything you create yields even more XP and can be completed in seconds.

Final Blurb

Mining in Grid Master is way faster than the normal game. Power Miner makes gold ore training simple, profitable, and synergized with other relics. Grab it first, chain into Lumberjack and Animal Wrangler, and use your crafted bars for easy XP and cash flow. With the right setup, you can hit 99 before you even realize you’ve been grinding.
