Review: Murky Divers

We recently played Murky Divers and have to admit it’s a pretty creative game. It’s a survival game where, instead of being the hero, you’re working for a shady company to cover up their crimes. The game has some great ideas and a very cool setting, but it also has a few issues. Here’s what we thought about it:

What’s Makes Murky Divers Good

1. Unique Story

In Murky Divers you’re not the good guy. You dive into underwater areas to collect body parts, scrap, and evidence so you can destroy it. You’re essentially hiding your company’s crimes from the police which is a really cool perspective as someone who likes to play games as a villain, and it gives off “henchmen” vibes.

2. Cool Underwater Setting

The underwater world is one of the best parts of the game. You get to explore sunken sewers, labs, and ruins while floating like you’re in zero gravity. The creepy underwater setting fits the story perfectly.

3. Fun Gear and Tools

The tools in the game are really creative. For example, there’s a Firefly gadget that helps you find wreckage by flying toward it. Little details like this make the game stand out and give you fun ways to solve problems.

What Could Be Better

1. Maybe a Little Too Repetitive

The early parts of the game feel the same. You explore similar areas, like sewers and ruins, and it gets boring quickly. Adding more variety at the start would help keep us a little more interested.

2. Unbalanced Enemies*

Some enemies are too weak, while others are way too strong. It’s frustrating to run into overpowered enemies without warning. A smoother difficulty curve would make the game feel more fair, *but, to be fair, this does keep you on edge at all times which could be seen as positive.

3. No Tutorial

The game doesn’t explain much when you start. It doesn’t tell you how to control the submarine, upgrade gear, or even get started. This makes the first few dives confusing. A short tutorial or guide would make it easier for new players to enjoy the game, but it wasn’t too bad figuring it out yourself.

Is it Worth Playing?

Even with its flaws, Murky Divers has a lot going for it. The story is unique, the tools are fun to use, and the underwater setting is well done. It’s a creative game that feels different from most survival games out there.

If you like survival games with creepy, underwater settings, you might enjoy Murky Divers. It’s best for players who don’t mind figuring things out on their own and want something a little different.

We’d give Murky Divers a solid 7.5 out of 10.

It’s a good game with potential to be even better. If the developers add more content and fix some issues, it could become a really great survival game.
