Saving your game in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t as simple as just pressing a button. No, that would be too easy. Instead, you’ve got to drink special schnapps, sleep, or hope the game decides to auto-save at a mission checkpoint. Fun, right? Here’s how to save.

Ways to Save Your Game

You have four ways to save, and each has its quirks.

  • Drink Saviour Schnapps - Guide on how to make/get Saviour Schnapps

    • This fancy medieval liquor instantly saves your game, no questions asked.

    • You can buy it from apothecaries, find it on enemies, or brew it yourself.

    • Stronger versions even give you bonus health and stat boosts, because why not?

  • Sleep in a Bed

    • Sleeping automatically saves your game when you wake up.

    • Having multiple beds across the map is a good idea (you can rent rooms at inns or find abandoned camps with bedrolls).

  • Mission Checkpoints

    • The game will auto-save at key story moments—usually at the start and end of quests, before boss fights, and when entering new areas.

    • These aren't super frequent, so don’t rely on them too much.

  • Save and Quit

    • If you exit from the pause menu, the game creates a one-time save.

    • Be warned: this save gets deleted when you load it—so no save-scumming!

Final Blurb

Saving in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t always easy, but with a steady supply of Saviour Schnapps and a few good beds, you’ll be fine. Just don’t forget to save often, because nothing is worse than losing hours of progress because you forgot to sip your magical booze.
