How to Fix Missing Briefcases
The fix is simple: stop using beds for employees. Lockers are now the only valid option for worker assignment.
Each locker is tied to one NPC, and each NPC is tied to only one locker. Once you assign a worker, their briefcase will appear inside that locker and it will function as their storage point for cash.
Beds can still exist in older saves for compatibility, but they no longer function as employee slots. That’s why you’re not seeing the briefcase when assigning beds.
Supply Lockers vs Worker Lockers
Some players get confused because they try to use multiple lockers for the same NPC; one for money, another for supplies. That will not work. Lockers are exclusively for cash assignment.
If you need to handle supplies, use shelves, racks, or safes as storage points. Employees will only draw from proper supply storage, not from their locker. Trying to force a “supply locker” setup will break NPC pathing and leave your workers idle.
