In Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, you don’t just pick a single survivor, but rather a pair of two. Each duo comes with their own unique skills, baggage, and some deeply complicated backstories that make things feel just a little too real.
Here’s a rundown of every available starting pair/character in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days.
Daphne & Penny
Daphne is a therapist. Penny is her patient. What started as therapy turned into survival, and now they rely on each other for a lot more than emotional support.
Daphne can stretch medical supplies and cook more food than usual, but she’s not much of a fighter. Penny, on the other hand, is deadly with a blade and good at sneaking—but she's also haunted, which means undead attacks can leave her rattled.
Tracy & Wayne
Tracy is an animal rights protester. Wayne is a bronc rider. Naturally, they fell in love. Now, she’s pregnant, and they’re trying to stay alive long enough to raise a baby in zombie suburbia.
Tracy hits harder when she’s low on health and shrugs off morale loss, but she can’t use alcohol. Wayne is the reckless type—he gets a morale boost from taking damage and can whip up moonshine in the kitchen. But leave him idle for too long, and he’ll start losing morale fast.
Darrel & Leo
Darrel is a grumpy old coach. Leo is a tough student with a chip on his shoulder. Their relationship is rocky, but they’re stuck together—and somehow it works.
Darrel is great at crafting melee weapons and has an iron stomach but can’t cook anything better than slop. Leo takes less damage and hits harder with melee weapons, but burns through food fast due to his high hunger rate.
Sebastian & Dianne
Sebastian is a war vet turned bar owner. Dianne worked at that bar and was saving up for DJ equipment. Now, they’re co-survivors who finally have something in common: a desperate will to live.
Sebastian is a crack shot and can craft guns more efficiently, though his morale recovers slowly. Dianne recovers rest slower, gains a little morale every phase, and isn't great at fixing barricades.
Hector & Kayla
Kayla’s a rebellious teen. Hector’s her anxious, over-prepping father. They didn’t get along before the outbreak—and now they really have to.
Hector is a great scavenger for parts and keeps the base secure. Kayla is nimble, can craft extra lockpicks, and avoid damage more often than not. But she also has a smaller backpack, which means fewer supplies carried on runs.
Final Blurb
Each pair has a different balance of skills, flaws, and emotional drama. Just be ready though, because some of them bring more to the table than just their stats. Sometimes it's food. Sometimes it's trauma. Occasionally, it's moonshine.
