You can’t block. You can’t parry. But you can dodge—and if you don’t, you’re probably gonna get slapped by something dead.
Back in the demo, this wasn't even a feature. That’s why a lot of early players got wrecked. But in the Early Access version, there’s now a proper dodge move, and it works well... if you use it right. Here’s how.

How Dodging Works
The dodge is basically a quick hop backward. It’s your “nope” button when a zombie lunges at you.
On PC, the default key is Q.
On controller, it’s LT (Left Trigger).
You don’t roll or dive or anything dramatic. Just a fast backward shuffle. Simple. Efficient. Not flashy.
When to Use It
Use it when you see a zombie start its swing.
Use it if you accidentally alert a group and need space.
Do not spam it. You’ll either waste time or end up cornered with style.
Dodging is more of a panic button than a combo tool. It’s not gonna save you from being totally surrounded, but it will save you from a single bad swing.
Does It Work on Every Enemy?
Not always. Some zombies block narrow hallways or doorways. You can’t dodge through them. You’ll just bump into them like an awkward middle school dance. So be smart about positioning. Don’t get boxed in thinking you’ll juke your way out.
Final Blurb
Dodging isn’t a get-out-of-jail-free card, but it’s the closest thing you’ve got in this game. It’s new, it’s fast, and it’s probably why you’re still alive. Just don’t button mash it and expect miracles.
