Avowed Co-op and Multiplayer Explained

Avowed is a single-player game and does not have any multiplayer or co-op features. You cannot play with friends online or locally, and there are no plans to add these features in the future, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending upon how you look at it).
We’ll explain a bit more in depth below.
Why Doesn’t Avowed Have Multiplayer?
At one point during development, Obsidian Entertainment considered adding multiplayer, but they decided against it. They realized that trying to include co-op was taking away from the single-player experience they wanted to create.
Instead of splitting their focus, they removed multiplayer completely and focused on making a strong, story-driven RPG like their previous games.
Will Avowed Ever Get Multiplayer or Co-Op?
No, there are no plans to add multiplayer or co-op. Obsidian has confirmed that Avowed will remain a single-player-only game. While some RPGs get multiplayer added later, this is not happening with Avowed.
What Kind of Game Is Avowed?
Even though it doesn’t have co-op, Avowed still offers a deep RPG experience. It has:
A rich, open world in the Living Lands
Companions who join your adventure (but aren’t controlled by another player)
Choices that affect the story
Combat with different playstyles (magic, melee, ranged)
If you were hoping to play with friends, this might be disappointing, but if you enjoy Obsidian’s past RPGs, you’ll likely still have a great time exploring Avowed’s world on your own.
