In Avowed, The Wasteland Courier side quest leads you to a suspicious package filled with questionable fungi. Once you recover it, you’ll have to decide whether to return it to Daiko or hand it over to the Tira Nui. Here’s what happens with each choice.
How to Find the Illicit Substance
Start the quest by speaking with Daiko near Fleet Master’s Perch in Thirdborn. He’ll tell you to follow graffiti markings to recover a package.
Follow the trail through the streets, breaking a wooden barrier to find a crude graffiti message.
Head north towards Deadfall Highlands, using white arrows as a guide.
Fight off Crystal Eater Spiderlings while navigating through breakable barriers.
Reach Aiko’s Campsite, where he admits the package contains fungal growths from dead Dreamthralls—an attempted illicit substance.
Your Choices: What to Do with the Package
1. Return the Package to Daiko
Daiko reacts to Aiko’s death and asks about the substance.
If you tried the substance earlier, he’ll ask about the effects.
Tell the truth: He’ll be disappointed the drug didn’t work.
Lie about a wild trip: You can make up some ridiculous effects (for fun, but no real impact).
Rewards:
Poisoner’s Kit Trinket (+5% Poison Damage)
516 XP
2. Give the Package to the Tira Nui
Speak to Hajime in Thirdborn and report your discovery.
If you tried the substance, you can tell him it failed, prompting a warning about experimenting with unknown drugs.
Hajime discusses the twins’ past and reacts to Aiko’s death.
Rewards:
Thirdborn Tira Nui Badge Trinket (+2 Might)
516 XP
Bonus: Trying the Substance
If you accept your companion’s suggestion to try it, you’ll unlock the ‘Dream Fungi Rotation’ achievement.
The substance has no effect, proving it was a failed experiment.
Which Choice is Better?
For Poison Damage builds: Give the package to Daiko for the Poisoner’s Kit.
For a Might boost: Give the package to Hajime for the Thirdborn Tira Nui Badge.
For roleplaying: You can lie to Daiko for fun, or turn in the package if you want to clean up the streets.
Whichever choice you make, the quest rewards the same XP, so it’s all about which Trinket fits your build.
