Avowed: One Last Drink Quest Guide and Walkthrough

You know that feeling when you just want to sit down with some old friends and reminisce, but half of them think you're trying to murder them? No? Well, Captain Ngunu does.
In this quest, you’ll help a nostalgic ex-sea captain track down his three former crewmates and convince them to have one last drink together. Whether this reunion ends in cheerful toasts or poisoned rum is entirely up to you. Read on for a simple quest guide for Avowed: One Last Drink.
Step 1: Talk to Captain Ngunu
Find Captain Ngunu at the Swordfish Tavern in Thirdborn, standing near the axe-throwing target (because nothing says “trustworthy” like hanging out near weapons). He wants to share a final drink with his old shipmates and asks for your help in finding them.
He gives you three names and locations:
Tauwe – Enjoying some peace and quiet at Sand Sea Oasis.
Ruanga – Hiding out in the Abandoned Mine, north of Thirdborn.
Kowha – Lurking in the Shark’s Teeth, up in Shatterscarp.
Let’s go find these folks and see if they’re as eager for a drink as Ngunu hopes. Spoiler: they are not.
Step 2: Find the Crewmates
Tauwe - The Easy One
Travel northeast to the Sand Sea Oasis. Tauwe is the only one who doesn’t immediately assume you’re part of some elaborate murder plot. He agrees to meet Ngunu with zero fuss. If only everyone were this reasonable.
Bonus: While you're here, dive into the water to grab a Wael Sapphire Eye God Shrine Totem Fragment and some Trickster’s Gloves from a conveniently dead skeleton. Nothing shady about that.
Ruanga - The Suspicious One
Head north to the Abandoned Mine, which is inconveniently hidden behind a barely visible slope in the cliff face. Once inside, clear out some Desert Beetles, because nothing in this world is simple.
Ruanga is holed up in a cave and not thrilled to see you. She claims that Ngunu has been hunting her and Kowha for years, because—plot twist—he's actually a gun runner, and they robbed him in the past.
Ruanga is convinced that Ngunu plans to poison them at the meeting, and she refuses to go. You can leave her be or, if you’re feeling extra nosy, investigate her claim.
Kowha - The Distracted One
In the northeastern cliffs of Shatterscarp, Kowha is hanging out above a pit full of Dreamthralls. Because why not?
He asks for help dealing with his infected “friends” below. Once you clear the area of monsters (and moral dilemmas), he finally talks. Turns out, he also thinks Ngunu tried to murder them before. Despite this, he agrees to go to the meeting—because nothing says “let’s catch up” like potential revenge.
Step 3: Investigate the Lighthouse (Optional but Hilarious)
If Ruanga's suspicions have you curious, you can sneak up to the lighthouse above Fleetmaster’s Perch. Inside, you’ll find a Vial of Poison and a conveniently placed book titled Perilous Plants and Where to Pick Them. Not exactly subtle.
Armed with evidence, you can return to Ruanga and suggest a delightful twist:
Instead of being poisoned, she and Kowha can switch the drinks and poison Ngunu and Tauwe instead.
Ruanga agrees because, well, fair’s fair.
Step 4: The Final Toast
Head back to the Swordfish Tavern in Thirdborn. The barkeep will ask you to deliver drinks upstairs. What happens next is up to you.
At the rooftop table, you have three choices:
Give Kowha and Ruanga poisoned rum.
Switch cups and poison Ngunu and Tauwe instead.
Play it safe and serve regular drinks. (But where’s the fun in that?)
If you poison Ngunu and Tauwe, you earn the Reverse Card Achievement (because karma is a thing).
Regardless of your choice, you receive the Ring of Prosperity’s Fortune, which boosts your Critical Hit Chance based on how much money you’re hoarding. Because nothing says “good luck” like being rich.

And that’s it! Whether you upheld friendship or orchestrated a poetic betrayal, One Last Drink is proof that no one ever really just wants a friendly reunion.
