Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Esoteric Ruins Guide (Paint Cages)

You’ve made it to the Esoteric Ruins—an optional spot in Act II that’s easy to miss if you're rushing past Old Lumiere. But if you’re hunting for collectibles (because of course you are), here’s where to grab the one and only prize here.

Where to Find the Paint Cage in Esoteric Ruins

There’s just one Paint Cage in the Esoteric Ruins, but don’t get too comfortable. It’s locked up tight, and you’ll need to break three locks before you can claim it.

Here’s how to get it done:

Enter the Valley (Without Getting Lost)

Start by heading into the valley west of Old Lumiere. Follow the path that winds down the cliffside. You’ll spot the Paint Cage waiting for you—not too hidden, but definitely not free.

Lock #1: The Sneaky One

Right after you find the Paint Cage, keep walking along the path. The first lock is tucked between two rocks. It’s easy to miss if you're not paying attention.

Lock #2: Look Down

Drop down to the ground level below the Paint Cage. The second lock is sitting to the right of that random building jutting out from the rocks.

Lock #3: Look Up (Sort Of)

Now turn around from the second lock. The third one is attached to a broken piece of the building, just across from where you found the second.

Once all three locks are smashed, the Paint Cage is yours.

Final Blurb

That’s it—Esoteric Ruins cleared. One collectible, three locks, and a bit of walking around pretending you know where you're going. If only every area was this simple, right? Now get back to the main story before you forget why you were here in the first place.
