Dead Space 4 Rejected by EA: What’s Next for the Series?
If you were still hoping for Dead Space 4 then we’ve got bad news. Glen Schofield, the creator of the series, recently revealed on the Dan Allen Gaming Podcast that EA isn’t moving forward with his pitch for the fourth game.
“We tried,” Schofield said. “We didn’t go too deep, but EA just said no. They weren’t interested right now. They know their numbers and what they need to ship. It’s a tough time for the industry.”
EA’s decision isn’t too surprising. The gaming industry has become cautious, with publishers avoiding risky projects that might not deliver huge profits. Unfortunately, Dead Space hasn’t been performing well enough financially to secure a new game. Reports suggest that the sales of the 2023 Dead Space remake fell below EA’s expectations, likely explaining why there’s no word on a Dead Space 2 remake either.
Still, there’s a silver lining. EA didn’t give Schofield a hard “no,” but rather a “maybe later.” So, while Dead Space 4 might not happen anytime soon, it’s not entirely off the table.
Dead Space Returns—As Graphic Novels!
But all is not lost for Dead Space fans! While a new game isn’t on the horizon, Titan Comics has announced the return of Dead Space graphic novels. The series will be rereleased starting March 11, 2025. These books will revisit the terrifying, suspenseful universe we all love, including stories from Dead Space, Dead Space: Liberation, and Dead Space: Salvage.
The comics were hugely popular when they were first released from 2008 to 2013. They captured the same eerie, nerve-wracking vibe as the games, complete with gruesome creatures and epic space environments.
Titan Comics Editor Jake Devine said in a press statement, “I’m thrilled to bring these graphic novels back. Fans and newcomers alike will get to experience that same terrifying feeling once again.”
What’s Next for Dead Space?
While it’s sad that Dead Space 4 isn’t happening right now, there are still ways to enjoy the series:
Play the Dead Space remake on PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass.
Dive into the graphic novels starting next March.
Hold out hope that the “maybe later” from EA turns into a “yes” for Dead Space 4.
Until then, Dead Space fans can enjoy the terrifying adventures the series has always offered—whether through games, graphic novels, or just dreaming of what might come next.
