Drill Core - How to Heal
Written by Jason B. | Drill Core
Healing in Drill Core is tied to a mix of passive systems, permanent upgrades, and strategy. The core and your workers can recover health, but healing is not automatic or unlimited. You must unlock it, manage your resources, and avoid unnecessary damage.
Core Healing
Core HP can only be restored with specific upgrades. There are two ways to do this:
Core Repair Upgrade
From the main menu, go to Upgrades. One of the core options lets you repair the drill platform’s HP by 300. This is a permanent upgrade that becomes usable in missions once unlocked.
Daily Full Core Heal
Another upgrade restores your core to full HP at the start of each day. This is more efficient than passive healing and is considered one of the best survivability boosts for late-game runs.
Use these together if you want to minimize risk while pushing deeper or surviving bosses like Arachnor.
Worker Healing
Worker healing is also unlocked via the Upgrades menu.
Once unlocked, your miners, carriers, and guards can recover HP over time during the day. The regen is slow, so try to avoid back-to-back fights. If one of your guards is badly hurt, retreat or avoid confrontation for a bit until their health ticks back up.
There is no healing item, no med station, and no way to instantly heal workers in the field.
Strategy for Reducing Damage
Use 3 guards instead of 1 highly upgraded one. It’s cheaper and more stable.
If a guard is low, avoid fights for that day.
Frozen enemies on the Ice Planet only activate if a worker moves within about two tiles. You can often avoid or mine past them.
Break spawner blocks before the enemy inside hatches. Right-click to prioritize them. Use 2–3 miners to rush and crack them quickly.
Avoid danger blocks like black holes and geysers. They kill instantly and healing doesn’t help if you’re dead.
Healing Is Not Automatic
You must manually unlock every healing system in the game. By default, the game expects you to take hits and lose workers. The healing upgrades exist to offset this over time as you improve your platform and tech.
Final Blurb
Healing in Drill Core is only possible through upgrades. Core repair and daily full heals help you survive longer runs. Worker healing is passive but slow, so avoid unnecessary combat. Smart defense and map awareness go further than raw healing alone.
FAQ
How do I heal the core in Drill Core?
Unlock the repair upgrade in the main menu. You can also get an upgrade that fully heals the core at the start of each day.
Can I heal my workers?
Yes, but only after unlocking the worker healing upgrade. It causes them to slowly recover HP over time.
Is there a healing item or building?
No. There are no active healing structures or consumables in the game. All healing is passive and tied to upgrades.
What's the best way to avoid damage?
Use multiple guards instead of upgrades. Prioritize mining dangerous blocks before enemies spawn. Avoid damage-heavy areas like black hole tiles.
Should I bother healing guards, or just replace them?
If you have factories producing free materials, it’s often faster to replace guards than wait for them to heal. However, healing helps in longer missions.
