The Hammer and Tongs task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 challenges you to prove your blacksmithing skills in a competition against Matthias, an apprentice blacksmith. You’ll need to forge the best hunting sword and outdo Matthias in a duel to claim your rewards. Here’s a quick guide on how to tackle the task in KCD2.

How to Unlock the Hammer and Tongs Task

  1. Go to Zdimir’s Shop: Head to Grund and speak with Blacksmith Zdimir. He’s the one who sets up the competition.

  2. Choose the Right Dialogue Options:

    • Select "I hear you've got a handy apprentice."

    • Then choose "I expected more."

  3. Place the Bet: Zdimir will suggest a bet, and you’ll need to give him 100 Groschen to start the competition.

Hammer and Tongs Task Objectives

  1. Forge a Competition Hunting Sword: You’ll need to create a hunting sword for the competition. Make sure your blacksmithing skills are up to the task!

  2. Bring Zdimir the Sword: Once you’ve forged the sword, bring it to Zdimir.

  3. Beat Matthias in a Duel: After handing over your sword, you’ll face off against Matthias in a duel. Winning the duel is essential to completing the task.

  4. Speak with Matthias: After the duel, talk to Matthias to complete the task.

Rewards for Completing Hammer and Tongs

  • 200 Groschen (you’ll get back the 100 Groschen you paid, plus an additional 100)

  • Competition Hunting Sword (a fine weapon to add to your collection)

By completing the Hammer and Tongs task, you’ll prove your blacksmithing prowess and walk away with both a nice reward and a solid sword.
