How Damage is Calculated in Path of Exile 2

Here’s a super quick guide on how damage math/calculations works in Path of Exile 2:

Step 1: Start with Base Weapon Damage

  • First, take your base weapon damage.

  • If any of your damage is converted (like 40% physical to fire), apply that now.

Step 2: Multiply by Skill Gem Attack Damage

  • Next, multiply the base damage by the attack damage value on your skill gem.

Step 3: Add Increased Damage

  • Add up all your increased damage percentages.

  • For example, if you have three passive nodes giving +12%, +12%, and +25% increased damage, that adds up to 49% increased damage, or a multiplier of 1.49.

Step 4: Apply "More Damage" Multipliers

  • If you’re using support gems that say "more damage", multiply again.

  • Example: If two support gems give +25% more damage each, multiply by 1.25 twice.

Step 5: Critical Damage

  • Base critical damage is 100%.

  • Without extra critical modifiers, your critical hit chance will directly affect your total damage.

Step 6: Attack Speed

  • Multiply your weapon’s attacks per second by your skill’s attack speed.

  • Then, apply any increased attack speed.

  • Example: If you have three nodes giving +3% each, that adds up to 9% increased attack speed, or a multiplier of 1.09.

That’s the basic math for calculating damage! Use this to fine-tune your build and crush enemies in Path of Exile 2. Happy grinding!
