How Ranked Bans Work in Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals, the ban system helps make matches involve a little more strategy (and fairness) by letting players block certain heroes. It only works in ranked matches for players at Diamond rank or higher. If you’re in a lower rank than diamond, you won’t use the ban system yet.
1. What Is the Ban System?
The ban system lets you block some characters your opponent might want to use. This system makes matches [arguably] more balanced and lets you plan around certain comps, getting rid of broken or overpowered characters that might be overtuned or overplayed.
2. How Does It Work?
In Diamond rank and higher, each player on the team get to vote on who to ban. After each team is done voting on who to ban, the 2 heroes with the most votes from each team will be unavailable for that game.
3. For Low Ranks
If you’re below Diamond rank, the ban system doesn’t apply. You just play with the full list of heroes available. These matches are more simple, with no bans or protects (but at the same time having to deal with the same OP heroes over and over).
4. Why Is the Ban System Important?
Stop Counters: You can block heroes that are strong against your team.
Keep Matches Fair: The system stops players from always picking the same strong heroes.
5. Tips for Using the Ban System
Vote to ban heroes that can counter your favorite character.
Pay attention to what heroes your opponent uses often if you can and plan your bans around that.
That’s how bans work in Marvel Rivals. If you’re in Diamond rank or higher, the system helps you play smarter. If you’re in a lower rank, you don’t need to worry about it yet—just focus on playing, getting better, and having fun!
With all of that said, we think this ban system should be implemented into lower ranks. Some players may play their way through lower ranks with only the most broken/op characters and then not know how to play anybody else once they hit diamond, which can be a problem.
