How to Fix Handler Deleting Items in Schedule 1

Got a Handler who moonlights as a magician? One minute your shelf is full, the next it's empty—and your guy just strolls off like nothing happened, leaving behind a mysterious “locked” icon and no product in sight... Yeah... Welcome to the “my Handler eats my inventory” bug. Here’s how to fix it.

The Bug, In Simple Terms

  • Your Handler takes an item from a shelf or workstation.

  • They never deliver it to the assigned destination.

  • The item vanishes or gets stuck “locked” in a destination slot.

  • Reloading the game deletes the item permanently.

It can also affect Botanists using drying racks and Packagers using Brick Press stations. Basically, any route or station transfer can go sideways.

Fix #1: Reset Their Tasks and Reload

This is the fix most people have had success with:

  1. Open the Management Clipboard (press 9).

  2. Find your Handler and press E to open their task menu.

  3. Unassign all stations and routes.

  4. Save your game.

  5. Exit to the main menu, then reload your save.

This often clears out the bugged “locked” state from the shelf or workstation and lets your Handler behave like a functioning adult again.

Fix #2: Move the Shelf or Station

Some players reported the bug only happened when their destination shelf or station was placed:

  • Too close to a wall

  • Right next to a trash bin

  • Or maybe cursed, who knows

Try moving your shelf or station a few tiles away from walls or clutter and reassign the route again.

Fix #3: Fire Them (and Maybe Break Their Kneecaps)

If the above doesn’t work:

  1. Fire the Handler. Make sure you’re not holding the clipboard when you press E, or you won’t get the option.

  2. Hire a new one from Manny at the warehouse.

  3. Reassign the new hire carefully.

This has worked for some players, especially if the original Handler was just fully bugged.

Final Blurb

This reset usually gets things working again. Worst case? Fire ‘em, rehire, and keep your shelves spaced out like a socially distant cookout.
