How to Get Intel in Tempest Rising

If you’re playing as the Global Defense Force (GDF) in Tempest Rising, you’ve probably noticed that some units, structures, and abilities require a second resource called Intel. It’s not money, and you can’t mine it—but it might just be more important than credits in the long run.
Here’s how Intel works and how you can get more of it.

What is Intel used for?
Intel is a secondary GDF-exclusive resource used to:
Unlock special unit abilities
Deploy advanced structures
Purchase specialists and support powers
You’ll see Intel costs on certain build menus and when activating higher-end options. Basically, if it feels overpowered—it probably costs Intel.
How to Get Intel in Tempest Rising
There are a few solid ways to build up your Intel reserves during a match:
1. Passively from your Construction Yard
The GDF base automatically generates a trickle of Intel over time. It’s not much, but it gives you a slow and steady income even if you’re not fighting yet.
2. Build Intel-generating structures
Later in the tech tree, GDF players can unlock and construct Data Cores and similar buildings that passively generate Intel. The more you build, the faster you’ll gain.
3. Kill Marked Targets
If you’re using units or powers that can mark enemy units, killing those marked targets will give you bonus Intel. Certain doctrines and laser-based unit synergies help you mark enemies more consistently.
4. Capture enemy structures
Using Engineers to steal enemy buildings (like refineries or power plants) also rewards you with a chunk of Intel. This makes sneaky base raids even more valuable.
5. Complete campaign objectives (in single player)
In the campaign, some optional and main objectives will reward Intel or unlock more slots for upgrades that use it. These are specific to mission design but worth pursuing.
Final Blurb
If you’re playing GDF, Intel is your silent MVP. While your opponent is out there chasing Tempest pods like a headless chicken, you can be dropping support powers, calling in reinforcements, and turning the tide with just a few smart plays. Keep that Intel flowing—and maybe don’t sell your Data Core this time.
