How to Roll in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Getting knocked down doesn’t have to mean eating your opponent’s entire okizeme setup. In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, you can tech roll after hitting the ground to quickly recover and reposition—either away from danger or right back into the mix.

How to Roll

  • Hold LP + Forward or Backward = Short Roll

  • Hold HP + Forward or Backward = Long Roll

Direction decides which way you roll. The button decides how far.

Short Roll vs Long Roll

  • Short Roll (LP): Faster recovery, smaller movement. Good for staying close or recovering in tight spaces.

  • Long Roll (HP): Travels further. Better for escaping corner pressure or big setups.

Important Note About Rolls

Once you tech roll, you lose throw invincibility on wake-up. If your opponent sees the roll coming, they can throw you the moment you stand up—no questions asked.

So yeah, tech rolling is great, but don’t get predictable.

When to Roll Away

  • Safest option 90% of the time.

  • Helps reset neutral or avoid meaty attacks.

  • Great when you’re low on health and need space.

When to Roll In

  • Risky, but can blow up throw attempts.

  • Combine with a wake-up Gear Super for a nasty punish.

  • Useful against players who auto-pilot pressure.

Final Blurb

Rolling is your post-knockdown get-out-of-jail card—but the fine print says “use responsibly.” If you always roll the same way, you’re just scheduling your next beating. Mix it up, bait grabs, and keep them guessing.
