Monster Train 2 Silence vs Silent Explained

In Monster Train 2, you’ll come across both Silent units and the Silence status. They look like they should mean the same thing, but they actually don’t. One is a unit type tied to Luna Coven cards.

The other is a debuff that stops abilities from working. Here’s what each one actually does and how to tell them apart.

What Are Silent Units?

Silent is a unit tag, not an effect.

You’ll see it printed on the bottom of some Luna Coven unit cards. It’s just a classification like Selene, and some cards only target or buff Silent units.

Silent units usually perform better during New Moon phases, and some have stealth or frontline tank roles.

It does not mean they’re muted or disabled. It’s just a label.

What Is Silence?

Silence is a status effect that removes all active abilities from a unit.

If a unit gets Silenced, it loses traits like Slay, Summon, Burnout, or Revenge. The unit can still attack and be attacked, but none of its special effects will work.

This is helpful for stopping boss minions or shutting down strong enemy combos.

It’s also possible to Silence your own units, but that’s usually a mistake unless you’re turning off a downside effect.

Why It's Confusing

The game uses “Silent” and “Silence” in the same clan and doesn’t explain the difference clearly.

Many Luna cards refer to Silent units, while other cards might apply Silence as a status.

These two things have nothing to do with each other... which is great for gameplay and terrible for clarity.

Just remember: Silent is a type. Silence is a status.

Final Blurb

The names might be close, but Silent and Silence do totally different things in Monster Train 2. One is a friendly label used in deck-building. The other is what you use to ruin an enemy's day.

As long as you’re not trying to Silence a Silent unit on purpose, you’ll be just fine.
