Oblivion Remastered Hand to Hand Combat Guide

RPG

Punching enemies to death isn’t just a joke build in Oblivion Remastered like it used to be — this is especially thanks to a little something called the Bands of Kwang Lao, it’s actually a solid way to play. Yes, you can roleplay as Tamriel’s most aggressive monk and it works.

In classic Oblivion fashion, the game doesn’t tell you that Hand to Hand can slap (literally). But with the right gear, you’ll be sending trolls and bandits flying without ever touching a sword.

Where to Get the Bands of Kwang Lao

These magical handwraps boost your Hand to Hand skill by 20 points. That’s not a small buff — that’s a "why is this bandit unconscious already?" kind of buff.

Here’s how to grab them:

  • Head to the Arena District in the Imperial City.

  • Look for two NPCs, Branwen and Sorian, sparring near a small camp outside the Arena entrance.

  • In their camp, you’ll find a locked chest. Inside? Your future punching career: the Bands of Kwang Lao.

Now, the chest isn’t going to open itself. You’ve got two options:

  1. Pick the Lock – It’s a tough one, so save before you try unless you enjoy snapping lockpicks like twigs.

  2. Pickpocket the Key from Branwen – She's the Redguard fighter. Again, save first because early-game pickpocketing is basically gambling with extra steps.

How to Use Hand to Hand Properly

Once you’ve got the Bands equipped, you’re basically Tamriel’s heavyweight champion in training. A few tips:

  • Hold down your attack for power punches. These hit harder and can stagger enemies.

  • As your skill increases, you’ll unlock the ability to knock enemies unconscious. Yes, you can literally punch people into nap time.

  • Don’t forget—your fists ignore weapon durability. Infinite punches, zero repair bills.

Final Blurb

If you’re tired of swinging swords or spamming fireballs, going full Hand to Hand in Oblivion Remastered is a surprisingly fun (and hilarious) way to play. Grab the Bands of Kwang Lao early, and you’ll be decking Daedra before they even know what hit them. Who needs a sword when you are the weapon?
