Oblivion Remastered: How to Cure Vampirism

So, you got a little too friendly with a vampire and now sunlight feels like a personal attack. Welcome to the club no one wants to join. Luckily, Oblivion Remastered still gives you a way out—though, like everything in Tamriel, it involves running errands for people who clearly don’t care that you’re burning alive.

Here’s how to cure vampirism in Oblivion Remastered before you fully commit to the night life.

Step 1: Confirm You’re Actually a Vampire

If you’re avoiding sunlight, craving blood, and people are calling you "creepy," chances are high. But to be sure, check for these signs:

  • Weakness in daylight.

  • Ugly reflection (well, uglier than usual).

  • Random thirst for NPC necks.

If that’s you—congrats, you’re officially cursed.

Step 2: Start the Cure for Vampirism Quest

Head to Cheydinhal and talk to Raminus Polus at the Arcane University. He’ll point you toward Count Hassildor in Skingrad, who has a personal interest in "your condition."

After some back-and-forth (because nobody gives straight answers in this game), you’ll get directed to Melisande, a witch who knows how to whip up the cure.

Step 3: Gather Ingredients

Melisande won’t just hand over the cure—she wants a shopping list fulfilled first:

  • 5 Empty Grand Soul Gems
Not filled. Empty. Good luck finding them. Check Mages Guilds or certain merchants.

  • 1 Sample of Bloodgrass
Found in Oblivion gates. Hope you like scenic views of hell.

  • 6 Cloves of Garlic
Raid some kitchens or homes. Vampires hate it, but you’re already doomed, so it’s safe.

  • 2 Shoots of Nightshade
Common in alchemy shops or growing around Tamriel.

  • 1 Argonian Blood
Yes, she wants blood. Find an Argonian, get creative.

Step 4: Deliver the Goods

Once you’ve gathered everything, return to Melisande. She’ll brew the cure—but only one dose. Use it wisely.

Step 5: Drink the Cure

Sip your way back to humanity. After that, sunlight will stop bullying you, and NPCs will stop acting like you’re about to bite them (because you were).

Final Blurb

Being a vampire in Oblivion Remastered sounds cool—until you realize fast travel at noon is a death sentence. Luckily, curing it is just a matter of fetching rare items, dodging Daedra, and mildly assaulting an Argonian. Business as usual in Tamriel.
