PEAK Compass Guide

Written by Jason B.

The Compass in the game PEAK mostly helps you figure out which way is north. That’s about it. It’s useful for a minute or two, then becomes dead weight.

However, there are some other compasses in the game (namely the pirate and warp compass) which have their uses.

What the Compass Actually Does

Helps you orient toward the mountain

When you spawn into a level, the Compass shows you which direction is north. This points you toward the mountain, which is your main goal. If you wander or fall off a path, you can use the Compass to find your way back toward the climb.

Good for regrouping

If a teammate gets lost or splits off, the Compass makes it easier to guide them back. You can give clear directions like "head north" instead of guessing based on landmarks.

Not useful long-term

It doesn't help with badges, puzzles, or survival. It also takes up an inventory slot, so most players drop it shortly after the start.

Other Compass Types in PEAK

Pirate’s Compass

  • Points to the nearest unopened luggage

  • Good for finding loot, especially food and rope

  • Very rare... usually found inside luggage or as a random drop

Warp Compass

  • Teleports you to a random player

  • Currently bugged and was removed due to glitches

  • If fixed, could be great for co-op recovery

Final Blurb

The basic Compass in PEAK is just a starter tool. It helps you face the right way, then quickly becomes useless. If you find a Pirate’s Compass, keep it.

If you find the regular one... don’t get too attached.
