PEAK How to Remove Tick Solo

Written by Jason B.

Ticks in the game PEAK appear in the Tropics biome and will slowly poison you if not removed, and that can be hard as a solo player. In solo mode, the only way to remove them is by climbing and checking your back when they grow large enough.

Where Ticks Spawn

Ticks first appear in the Tropics, right after the Shore.

You won’t get any warning. They attach without sound or status icons and begin draining your stamina over time.

What Ticks Do

Ticks cause stacking poison and reduce your stamina gradually.

If you notice stamina dropping for no reason, there’s a good chance a tick is attached. You won’t always see it unless you stop and check your back.

How to Remove Ticks in Solo

Climb a surface

Find a ledge or wall and start climbing. This is the only way to view your character’s back from the right angle.

Wait until the tick grows

You can’t remove it right away. The tick needs to get bigger before the game will let you pull it off.

Look down at your back

While climbing, angle the camera behind your character. When the tick is visible and large enough, a prompt will appear.

Press interact

Follow the prompt to remove the tick. This stops the poison, but doesn’t cure any poison buildup already there.

What to Do After Removing It (EAT THE TICK!)

You’ll still be poisoned until you use a cure. Bring an antidote or a Cure-All to restore stamina and stop the damage.

You can also eat the tick if needed. It gives a small stamina boost and counts toward the Foraging Badge/Achievement. Not ideal, but it works.

Final Blurb

Ticks are silent, annoying, and deadly if ignored. In solo runs, they’re harder to spot and remove. If your stamina is draining with no reason, climb something, look down, and rip it off.

Or eat the dang thing and see what happens... survival is survival.
