Should You Attack & Kill White Nevron in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

You’ll meet Jar, a pale white Nevron, early on when Gustave and Lune pass through the cave near the Indigo Tree. Jar asks for help finding “light.” Seems innocent enough. But once you finish his quest, the game gives you a choice: leave him alone or attack.
Let’s go over what really happens—because the choice has long-term consequences.
Can You Skip Attacking the White Nevron?
Yes. After helping Jar, the white Nevron, you can walk away and leave him in peace. You’ll even get a Healing Tint for finishing his side quest.
No fight, no problem.
What Happens If You Attack the White Nevron?
If you choose to attack:
Jar becomes a mini-boss. He opens with a four-hit combo that can punish early-game players.
His attacks are tricky to dodge or parry—especially the first swing and final leaping slam.
Jar is weak to Fire, Ice, and Lightning but shrugs off most Physical damage.
If you kill Jar early, you’ll earn:
3x Colour of Lumina
1x Chroma Catalyst
Not a bad haul if you need quick upgrades—but there’s a big catch.
Why You Should Not Attack the White Nevron
If you spare Jar (and all other quest Nevrons you meet later), you unlock a massive reward much later:
100 Colour of Lumina from Blanche, a Nevron at The Fountain region (late-game area).
You can only reach Blanche after unlocking Esquie’s flight.
If you’ve killed any quest Nevrons—including Jar—Blanche will attack you instead. Beating Blanche gives much smaller rewards (10x Colour of Lumina and 2x Grandiose Chroma Catalyst). Basically, the merciful path pays off much more in the long run.
Can You Kill the White Nevron After Claiming the Big Reward?
Yes. If you spare Jar and get the 100 Colour of Lumina from Blanche later, you can still come back and kill Jar afterward for the 3 Colour of Lumina and Chroma Catalyst.
It’s a bit rude, but the game lets you do it.
Final Blurb
If you need fast Lumina early, fighting Jar works. But if you’re playing the long game—and want to pocket 100 Colour of Lumina later—leave Jar alone. Mercy is literally worth more.
