Slime Rancher 2: How to Get Drones

Slime Rancher 2: How to Get Drones
Slime Rancher 2

Unlocking drones in Slime Rancher 2 makes ranch life much easier. They automate collecting plorts, feeding slimes, and gathering rare resources so you can focus on exploring. Getting them takes effort, but once set up, they save hours of manual work.

Unlocking Drones

Drones are not available at the start. The first step is finding a Ghostly Drone. One guaranteed spawn is in the Conservatory expansions: Archway, Den, and Gulley. It floats around these zones and occasionally pauses. Another can be found in the Grey Labyrinth’s Terrarium.

When you interact with a Ghostly Drone, it gives you a Drone Station Module. This is required to build a Quantum Drone Station at the Fabricator. To craft one, you need:

  • 100 Flutter Plorts (from Flutter Slimes in Starlight Strand)

  • 15 Lava Dust (from Ember Valley lava spouts)

  • 15 Wild Honey (from striped beehives in Starlight Strand)

  • 3 Strange Diamonds (rare in caves)

  • 1 Drone Station Module (from Ghostly Drone)

  • 5000 Newbucks

Drone Modes and Functions

Quantum Drone Stations can be built using the T key for build mode. Placement determines their function.

In Rancher Mode, drones can move plorts, fruits, veggies, and meat inside the Conservatory. They can feed slimes, stock silos, or send plorts to the market. Targets can be set by item or category.

In Explorer Mode, drones collect items outside of the Conservatory. They can pick up plorts, crafting resources, and rare materials like Strange Diamonds. Everything is stored in the Quantum Cloud.

Quantum Cloud Use

The Quantum Cloud is shared storage for all Drone Stations. Items inside can be withdrawn, sold, or sent to the Refinery. You can check it from the map screen, though item movement only works at stations.

Explorer Mode drones are especially useful since they gather resources far from base and secure them instantly in the cloud.

Drone Power

Drones use plorts as fuel. Any plort works. Their charge can be checked at a station or on the map.

Idle drones do not use energy. This prevents wasted resources when no task is assigned.

Final Blurb

Drones in Slime Rancher 2 are the ultimate upgrade for automating daily tasks. Find a Ghostly Drone, build a Quantum Drone Station, and set them to work in Rancher Mode or Explorer Mode. With automation running, you can spend more time exploring and less time hauling plorts.
