Special Week Build Guide | Uma Musume Pretty Derby
Written by Priya Kapoor
In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, Special Week is a strong Medium and Long-distance runner with good stamina scaling and a flexible running style. She works best as a Leader, but can also handle Betweener setups.
If you’re struggling with consistency, a clean Leader build will give her better pacing and fewer mood swings.
Stat Priorities
Speed
Always build Speed first. You’ll need 700+ to stay competitive in Medium races.
Stamina
This is your second focus. Go for 500+ in Long-distance races. Medium races can work with around 400-ish if you have recovery skills.
Power
Keep this above 500+. It helps her push through turns and build momentum near the end.
Wit
Aim for 300+. It helps her skills activate and keeps her mood stable.
Guts
Optional. Only raise Guts if you’re running a Guts-focused deck or struggling with late-race stamina drops.
Best Support Cards for Special Week
3 Speed Cards
Use strong bond Speed cards. Look for skill hints that match Medium or Long-distance pacing.
1 Stamina Card
You need one to avoid crashing in the final 600m. Super Creek is ideal, but SRs can work.
1 Wit Card
Helps with recovery and skill triggers. Fine Motion or Symboli Rudolf are good choices.
1 Power Card
Use this for balance. It gives her enough strength to push past rivals near the end.
Training Strategy
Speed Comes First
Push Speed drills early and often. Try to unlock Level 5 Speed training before the final races.
Keep Stamina Steady
If she starts falling off in the second half of races, you’re under-trained in Stamina.
Power and Wit Together
These two can be trained as backups when Speed drills are weak. They help with recovery and acceleration.
Use Bond Drills
Multi-character drills boost stats fast. Aim for double or triple supports on a single tile when possible.
Don’t Ignore Mood
Mood affects her training and skill success. Use Recreation or Wit drills to recover if she’s not in Good or Great mood.
Best Skills for Special Week
Medium and Long Support
Take skills that match her race types. Corner or straight speed boosts are safe bets.
Recovery Options
Skills like "Runner’s High" or stamina triggers help her stay strong in the final stretch.
Leader Boosts
Skills like "Front Runner" or pacing support help her hold her spot.
Wit-Triggered Skills
Since she has a Wit growth bonus, she’s better at triggering skills if you train that stat properly.
Race Style Tips
Special Week runs best as a Leader. Boost her Leader aptitude to A through inheritance. Her Betweener style is usable, but it’s harder to control and less consistent for new players.
Good legacy picks include:
TM Opera O
Rice Shower
Mejiro Ryan
Avoid Chaser or Sprinter-focused parents. They don’t fit her pace or distance.
Final Blurb
Special Week needs a little more balance than pure speed builds, but once you hit the right Stamina and Power levels, she becomes very reliable.
Stick with the Leader style, keep her mood up, and she’ll make it through Medium and Long races without burning out!
TL;DR
Build her as a Leader and boost her aptitude to A
Aim for 700+ Speed, 500+ Stamina, and 500+ Power
Use 3 Speed, 1 Stamina, 1 Power, and 1 Wit support cards
Train Speed first, then keep Stamina balanced
Use Wit for mood and skill activation boosts
Don’t ignore Power, or her final push will fall short
Use legacy parents with Leader and Medium/Long focus
Avoid Chaser setups unless you know what you're doing
Recreation is safer than Rest when her mood drops
Her kit works best in Medium and Long turf races
