Ubisoft Lays Off 185 Workers, Shuts Down Leamington Studio
Ubisoft is cutting jobs across several European studios—185 to be exact. One studio, Ubisoft Leamington, is shutting down entirely.
Most of the layoffs (around 100) are hitting two UK-based teams—Leamington and Reflections. The rest are spread across Ubisoft Düsseldorf and Ubisoft Stockholm. The company calls it "targeted restructuring," saying it's all part of an effort to focus on key projects and cut costs.
Ubisoft says it’s “deeply grateful” for the affected employees and will help them through the transition. A few from Leamington will be allowed to switch to remote contracts, but most are out.
This is just the latest in a wave of gaming industry layoffs. So far in 2025, we’ve already seen Freejam, Splash Damage, and Jar of Sparks shut down. Swedish firm Enad Global 7 (EG7) also decided to “wind down” Toadman Interactive, cutting 69 jobs, plus another 38 at Piranha Games.
It’s looking like another rough year for game developers.
