The Gray Fox has another "simple" job for you—steal a magical arrow from a powerful wizard hiding in a castle with secret tunnels, deadly traps, and angry Dremora. Easy, right?
Here’s how to get it done without ending up dead... or expelled.
How To Start Arrow of Extrication
Fence 700 gold worth of stolen items to Thieves Guild fences like Ongar (Bruma) or Orrin (Anvil).
Head to Imperial City Waterfront.
Wait around for Amusei to show up and give you a message.
Meet the Gray Fox at Malintus Ancrus's house in Chorrol to get the quest.
Sneak Into Bravil Castle
Travel to Bravil and bribe a beggar for info on Fathis Aren.
Go to Bravil Castle, and around 7-8 AM, sneak into the Lord's Manor North Wing.
Find Fathis's room (first door on the left).
Pick the locks on his chests—spoiler, no arrow inside.
Look for a hidden switch on a pillar to open the path to Bravil Wizard's Grotto.
Survive Bravil Wizard's Grotto
Bring a Water Breathing potion (or spell).
Fight or sneak past Conjurers and Dremora.
Head north through the grotto until you hit the underwater section.
Swim carefully—don’t go too deep, or you’ll drown.
Find the tunnel leading to Fathis Aren's Tower.
Steal the Arrow Without Getting Expelled
Climb to the top of the tower.
Do NOT kill Fathis Aren if you're in the Mages Guild—just run past him.
Grab the Arrow of Extrication and the Tower Key from his chest.
Exit through the Giant Door on the south wall.
Once outside, fast travel back to Chorrol.
Turn In The Quest
Visit Malintus Ancrus's house again.
Hand over the arrow to the Gray Fox.
Quest Rewards:
500 Gold
Promotion to Master Thief in the Thieves Guild
Final Blurb
That’s one more job done for the Gray Fox, and one step closer to whatever wild plan he’s cooking up. Just remember—next time you see a wizard with a private tower and a dungeon full of demons, maybe knock first.
