Made a few too many terrible custom spells in Oblivion Remastered? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Sadly, Bethesda still hasn’t given us a nice "Delete" button. But there is a way—if you're on PC.

Can You Delete Custom Spells Normally?

Nope. There’s no built-in option to delete custom spells in Oblivion Remastered. Once you make a spell, it’s stuck in your spell list forever... unless you’re willing to get your hands dirty with console commands.

How To Delete Spells on PC

If you're playing on PC, here’s the workaround (but note that using console commands disable achievements:

  1. Open the Console by pressing the ` (tilde) key.

  2. Type:
    save spellclean 1
This creates a text file in your game folder.

  3. Go to:
    OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64
(For Game Pass users: look in XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\WinGDK)

  4. Open the new text file and search for Total SPEL.

  5. You’ll see a list of your custom spells with weird names like UI_UserInputText_....

  6. Back in-game, use:
    player.removespell [SpellID]
You’ll need to trial-and-error this unless you can recognize the ID.

  7. Once you remove the right spell, reload your normal save to avoid messing up anything else.

Console Players? You're Out of Luck

If you're on PlayStation or Xbox, there’s no way to delete spells. Your best bet is to name your spells clearly so your spellbook doesn’t turn into a cluttered mess.

Is There a Limit to Custom Spells?

Technically, no hard limit has been found. But making too many spells could slow down menus or just drive you crazy scrolling through junk.

Final Blurb

Deleting spells in Oblivion Remastered isn’t easy—and if you’re on console, it’s impossible. So, before you start making "Test Fireball #27," think twice. For PC players, the console command route works, but it’s more of a band-aid than a real fix. Maybe one day Bethesda will patch this. Until then, happy scrolling.
