In Avowed, you’ll eventually face a difficult choice in Dawntreader, where you must decide what to do with Sargamis and the Eothas statue. This decision affects your ending and also determines whether you get a powerful one-handed sword, Last Light of Day.

Below is a simple guide to your choices and their consequences depending on what you do.

Who is Sargamis and What is the Eothas Statue?

Sargamis is an oracle and animancer who believes he can bring back Eothas—a god with a complicated past—by using innocent souls as fuel for his ritual. Unsurprisingly, this has not gone well for anyone involved.

Your task is to decide whether to:

  1. Help him complete the experiment

  2. Stop him (violently or peacefully)

  3. Ignore him and walk away

No matter what you do, Sargamis will not succeed in his plan, but your choice will impact the ending and determine whether you walk away with a great weapon.

Sargamis Choice – What Happens in Each Scenario?

1. Give Sargamis the Relic (Fails Anyway)

  • Hand over the Splinter of Eothas and place it in the statue.

  • His experiment fails, and he sacrifices himself as the final soul.

  • You still get the Last Light of Day sword afterward.

  • Impact: Slightly changes your ending animation.

2. Kill Sargamis (Best Choice for Combat Players)

  • Attack him during your conversation.

  • This triggers a boss fight against him.

  • Loot Last Light of Day from his body.

  • Impact: Removes a potential threat and ensures a clean ending.

3. Convince Sargamis to Stop (Requires High Intellect or Background Check)

  • If you have high Intellect or certain background perks, you can persuade Sargamis not to complete the ritual.

  • He abandons his plan and survives.

  • Impact: Adds a unique ending scene showing Sargamis moving on peacefully.

  • You still get Last Light of Day without bloodshed.

4. Ignore Sargamis (Boring but Safe)

  • Simply walk away without engaging.

  • The quest still completes, but you do not get Last Light of Day.

  • Impact: No major consequences, but you miss out on a great weapon.

5. Sacrifice Yourself (Just for Fun)

  • You can offer yourself as a sacrifice.

  • You die instantly. The game reloads your last save.

  • Impact: Absolutely nothing except a laugh at your own expense.

What to Do with the Eothas Statue?

After Sargamis is dealt with, the Voice (a mysterious entity) asks you to hand over the statue for an unknown purpose.

1. Give the Statue to the Voice (Best for Roleplay/Lore)

  • The Voice takes control of the statue.

  • No immediate consequences, but in the ending animation, Sapadal (a god) is seen wandering the Living Lands using the statue as a body.

  • Impact: Adds a unique lore-based scene to your ending.

2. Destroy the Statue (Best for Those Who Distrust the Gods)

  • If you destroy the statue, the Voice loses access to a physical form.

  • Impact: The ending does not show Sapadal using the statue.

Final Thoughts – Which Choice is Best?

  • Kill Sargamis for an easy way to get the Last Light of Day sword.

  • Convince him to stop if you prefer a peaceful outcome but still want the weapon.

  • Giving the Voice the statue adds an interesting ending scene, but destroying it prevents an unknown force from gaining power.

  • DO NOT ignore Sargamis unless you want to miss out on one of the best swords in the game.

Either way, Sargamis won’t succeed, but how you handle him will shape your version of Avowed’s world.
