The claw machine (also called the crane game) is a random minigame that can appear during training in Uma Musume Pretty Derby. It’s tied to a special event mission that asks you to grab at least 3 plushies in one try.
How to Trigger the Claw Machine
The claw machine only shows up during recreation events when you go on outings (the bottom-middle option during training). You can only get it once per year, starting in your Classic (Year 2) season.
The game is random, but it has a higher chance to appear if you rest or take outings often.
Best Characters for Farming the Event
Pick characters who have long stretches of downtime where outings are safe to spam. These are the two best:
Haru Urara: Ideal because she often has nothing important happening in early Year 2.
Mayano Top Gun: Also works due to her similar training flow and recovery timing.
During Year 2 (January to April is safest), you can skip heavy training and just keep clicking outings to roll for the event.
How the Claw Machine Works
When the minigame appears, you’ll get a one-shot chance to grab plushies.
To play:
Hold the button to position the claw.
Let go when it’s above the plushie you want.
You can aim for plushies standing up or lying down, but grabbing by the head seems to work best.
Success is not guaranteed, even with good aim. The claw may drop prizes, which is just RNG. You need at least 3 plushies caught in one session to clear the mission.
