Conquest Dark: Tips and Tricks

Here’s a solid set of tips and tricks for Conquest Dark to help you push further, bleed slower, and maybe even become a demigod.

Understand Bleed

Bleed is your biggest threat. Every time you lose all your health and a life, you gain a bleed stack. Each stack permanently reduces your max health by 1%. Bleed cannot be removed. If you ignore it, you’ll slowly waste away no matter how strong you are.

Here’s how to fight back:

  • Reduce Bleed Rate: This lowers how fast your bleed stacks drain your health. If you can max this stat, do it.

  • Boost Health Regen: Pair it with Chance to Spawn Healing Souls. These little green souls can save a failing run.

  • Don’t Lose Lives: Obvious, but true. Dodge, kite, and avoid chip damage. Each life lost hurts your scaling.

Defense Matters As Much As Damage

You can’t just stack DPS. You need:

  • Max Health upgrades (especially for melee builds)

  • Dodge Charges and Movement Speed (to avoid incoming attacks)

  • Barrier stacking for Acolyte of Kuu and certain Origins. It acts like an extra health bar and recharges.

Note: Resistances are great too, but most enemies don’t stack heavy resist debuffs until higher tier runs.

Know Your Proficiencies

Your starting Proficiency changes your whole approach:

  • Veteran of War: Heavy armor, tanky

  • Hunter’s Apprentice: Bow damage, pierce

  • Savage Upbringing: Two-handed weapons

  • Survival: Dodge-heavy, often tied to thief or bow playstyles

Pierce chance is also now visible in loadouts. Example: Half-Pierce usually means a 50% chance to go through enemies, giving you natural AoE.

Power Abilities vs. Mastery (What’s What)

  • Power Abilities: Active skills that trigger every few seconds automatically. Example: Ricochet Shot or Seismic Slam.

  • Masteries: Passive boosts like Brutality (more crit damage) or Resilience (damage taken reduced). These shape your build over time.

Pro tip: You’ll often want to max Brutality early if critting, or Resilience if going melee and expecting to tank hits.

Don’t Overload Crit Chance

Once you hit around 50-60% crit chance, stop chasing more. The game’s diminishing returns kick in hard. Instead, scale Crit Damage or All Damage.

Rune Slots and Scaling

Many weapons and abilities have Rune Slots. Don’t forget to use them. Some key options:

  • Projectile Amount: Massive scaling for bow and spell builds

  • Reach and Arc: For melee weapons, this lets you hit more enemies safely

  • Energy Cost Reduction: Essential for heavy Power Abilities like Seismic Slam or Primal Roar

Leap Abilities Are OP (And Not Just for Damage)

Leap or Dash skills don’t just reposition—you get invulnerability frames. Skilled players use leaps not for movement, but for avoiding lethal boss hits.

If your leap resets after hitting a certain number of targets (like 5), stack Reach and Arc to hit that number every time.

What To Reroll (And What To Keep)

Every piece of gear you find can be:

  • Taken (obvious)

  • Skipped for a free Rune currency

  • Rerolled to try for higher Rarity or better stats

Prioritize rerolling for:

  • Passive Ability Damage (great for burn or poison builds)

  • Resistance Piercing (essential at higher difficulty)

  • All Damage or Crit Damage over small base stat bonuses

Don’t Ignore Spirit Caravans

These rare events offer great loot, but they’re tough. If you can kill them fast, do it. If not, skip them—dying over a caravan isn’t worth a lost life and more bleed.

Attack Speed > Damage Early Game

Attack Speed affects:

  • Energy Generation

  • Power Ability triggers

  • Your DPS scaling

Stack speed early. Once you feel your main Power Abilities firing often, shift into Crit Damage or flat Damage boosts.

Final Blurb

Conquest Dark rewards players who think ahead. If you build only for raw DPS, bleed and scaling mechanics will catch up. Balance damage, healing, movement, and resistance. Learn what resets, when to leap, and how to build defense before you stack damage. Survive smart.
