Hell Clock Classes Explained: Build Your Playstyle
Written by Michael Owen | Hell Clock
Hell Clock does not use preset classes like warrior or mage. Instead, your build is determined by relics, skills, and gear you collect during a run. Each attempt can feel like a different class depending on the choices you make.
Builds & Buildcrafting Focus
Your character begins with basic attacks and movement skills. From there, relics and upgrades define your role:
High-speed assassin with movement-based damage
Elemental damage specialist with lightning or fire focus
Lifesteal and shield tank builds for heavy sustain
Balanced hybrid setups for timer efficiency
Skills Shape Your Style
Skills are leveled individually. Higher ranks add damage but often increase mana cost and cooldown. This forces you to pick what matters most:
Movement-heavy builds rely on dashes and knife skills.
Damage builds focus on critical and heavy strikes.
Defensive builds choose shields, thorns, or lifesteal.
Relics as Class Shapers
Relics slot into a limited grid. Choosing which ones to keep creates your “class” for that run:
Dagger shield relics turn you into a close-range bruiser.
Lightning knife relics make AoE builds strong.
Speed relics synergize with spin attacks for burst damage.
No Locked Roles
Unlike fixed ARPG classes, you can shift mid-run. If your early build was mobility-focused but you find strong elemental relics, you can pivot into an elemental-heavy style. Permanent constellation upgrades improve your overall power but do not lock you into any one path.
Final Blurb
Hell Clock replaces classes with flexible builds. Your role is shaped by what you find and how you combine it, allowing for unique playstyles every run.
