How to Activate Shield in Dune Awakening

To activate your shield in Dune: Awakening, just equip it in the proper gear slot, then press H to turn it on. That’s it. Once active, it’ll block most incoming damage... but don’t get too comfortable. There are some major tradeoffs.

Where to Equip the Shield
Gear Up First
Before anything else, you’ll need to equip a Holtzman Shield in your shield gear slot.
Open your inventory
Find the shield (like the MK2 version)
Drag it into the designated shield slot shown in your equipment panel
You can find shields as random drops, especially in higher-level trial areas, or craft them once you've unlocked the research.
Activating the Shield
Press H
Once the shield is equipped, press H to activate or deactivate it at will.
When it’s on, you’ll see a glowing blue field around your character
You’re protected from most projectile and melee attacks
You’ll still take damage from slow blade attacks, fire, and poison
Just don’t forget it’s a toggle. Shields stay on until you turn them off or run out of power.
Power Source and Drain
Know What Fuels It
Shields use energy from your power source, which is the same one used for tools like harvesters and lasers.
If you take hits while shielded, it drains your power, not your health
Once power runs out, your shield drops and you’re wide open
So if your harvesting gear suddenly stops working, your shield is probably draining all your juice.
Watch for the Sandworms
Don't Use It in Open Desert
Shields attract sandworms fast. Using one out in the open is basically ringing a dinner bell for Shai-Hulud.
Only activate shields in caves, indoor fights, or PvP zones where worm risk is low.
