If you want to customize your armor beyond just stats, Monster Hunter Wilds lets you dye Layered Armor to match your style. While not all gear can be recolored, you still have some options to make your hunter stand out.

How to Dye Your Armor

Step 1: Enter a Tent

  • You can dye armor from any camp tent—either at a base or a pop-up camp.

  • Interact with the tent and open the Appearance Menu (look for the head icon).

Step 2: Access the Dye Menu

  • Select Equipment Appearance from the menu.

  • Look for two color squares on the right side of the screen.

  • Click them to open the color selection tool.

Step 3: Choose Your Colors

  • Pick a new color for your Layered Armor.

  • Some sets may have multiple dyeable sections, allowing for extra customization.

  • Adjust the shade to match your preferred look.

What Can You Dye?

  • Layered Armor – Can be dyed freely once unlocked.

  • Underclothes – Can also be customized.

  • Regular Armor – Most crafted armor sets cannot be dyed (at least at launch).

Final Blurb

While you can’t dye every piece of armor, the Layered Armor system gives you enough freedom to avoid looking like a mismatched mess. If you want full transmog control, focus on crafting complete Layered Armor sets to unlock more customization options.
