You’ve got a quiver full of arrows. You’ve got a powerful enchanting altar. But can you enchant arrows in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s what you should know.
Can You Enchant Arrows in Oblivion Remastered Without Mods?
In vanilla Oblivion Remastered (and the original game), you cannot enchant arrows yourself.
Arrows count as ammunition, not weapons or armor.
The enchanting altars only work on weapons, armor, rings, and amulets.
No in-game methods exist to add custom effects to arrows.
Pre-enchanted arrows do exist though. You can loot or buy arrows like the Arrow of Embers or Arrow of Storms, but you can’t make your own without using mods.
How to Enchant Arrows With Mods
If you want custom enchanted arrows, you’ll need a mod. The most popular right now is:
SCTEnchantingArrows.esp
What it does: Adds multiple spells to your character when you load the game. These spells let you convert base arrows into enchanted versions (example: Iron Arrow -> Arrow of Fear).
It only affects base arrows. You remove a normal arrow and receive the enchanted version.
All enchanted versions are based on existing vanilla arrows, so once you create them, they’ll stay in your inventory even if you uninstall the mod.
How to Install:
Download the mod’s .zip file.
Place the SCTEnchantingArrows.esp file into your OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data folder (where your .esp and DLC files are).
Open your plugins.txt file and add SCTEnchantingArrows.esp to the list. Save it.
Launch the game. Your character will automatically have the arrow enchanting spells.
No load order conflicts. The mod works with any other mods and can be added or removed safely.
What Arrows Can You Enchant?
Here’s a sample of what you can create using the mod:
Iron Arrows: Fire, Fear, Frost, Light, Sparks
Steel Arrows: Burning, Cowardice, Fatigue, Jolts
Silver Arrows: Cleansing, Dispel, Drain Magicka
Dwarven Arrows: Cold, Savage Frost, Silence
Elven Arrows: Flames, Freezing, Stillness, Voltage
Glass Arrows: Fire, Glacier, Hexing
Ebony Arrows: Blaze, Blizzards, Lightning
Daedric Arrows: Inferno, Storms, Winter
Amber and Madness Arrows: Various tiers with Damage Health effects
There are dozens more variations for each arrow type.
Final Blurb
Without mods, enchanting arrows in Oblivion Remastered just isn’t possible. With the right mod, though, you can turn basic arrows into powerful tools of destruction... or at least annoy every guard in Cyrodiil. Your choice.
