How to Get the Goblin Swingslash in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

The Goblin Swingslash is a deadly little axe with a wild 5-hit combo and a brutal overhead swing. It’s also one of the best early-game weapons you can get your hands on in RuneScape: Dragonwilds but unlocking it takes a bit of setup, some goblin cleanup, and a surprise boss fight.

If you’re still near the Temple Woods and looking to power up fast, this guide will walk you through exactly how to unlock the Goblin Swingslash recipe.

Step 1: Go to the Village Ruins in Bramblemead Valley

Head to the Bramblemead Valley, which is a Tier 2 area. Look for the Village Ruins, near the Wise Old Man’s tower. The ruins are full of goblins. Your first job is to clear them all out.

Once the area is clear, go talk to the Wise Old Man and start the Dragon Slayer quest. This will help progress things later, and it ties into unlocking the fight you’re looking for.

Step 2: Build a Shelter in the Area

Next, build a shelter nearby. Doing this will automatically start attracting Warbands to attack your base. These enemy waves get stronger with time, and the goblins will be first on the scene.

One of the early waves will include a big surprise.

Step 3: Survive Until the Goblin Bruiser Appears

The first or second Warband after clearing the camp will trigger a special goblin attack. This is when the Goblin Bruiser shows up. He’s easy to spot—he’s got a wooden board shield with spikes and is surrounded by a ton of Goblin Archers and Warriors.

If you’re not ready for a full-on brawl, lead him toward the tower ruins and use the broken platforms to your advantage. A bow, staff, or the Windstep spell helps you fight him safely from a distance.

Step 4: Beat the Goblin Bruiser

Take him down, and there’s a high chance he’ll drop a Lore Piece. When you read it, you’ll unlock the Goblin Swingslash recipe.

This axe isn’t just for show—it’s a Tier 2 weapon with:

  • A 5-stage combo

  • Heavy knockback

  • A powerful overhead finisher

Step 5: Craft the Goblin Swingslash

To craft the weapon, you’ll need:

  • Ash Logs

  • Animal Bones

  • Leather

All of these are common and easy to farm near the starting zones, so you won’t have to go far once you have the recipe.

Final Blurb

The Goblin Swingslash gives you a big edge early in the game, literally. You’ll be mowing through mobs before they know what hit them. All it takes is some goblin extermination, a makeshift base, and one very angry bruiser. Grab it early, and your next few zones will be a whole lot easier.
