If you've stumbled into Blue Prince and picked up a mysterious green key called the Secret Garden Key, congrats—you’re officially in the “what do I do with this?” club. Let’s walk through how to actually get this key, what it does, and where to use it so you can stop hoarding it like a confused squirrel.
Where to Find the Secret Garden Key
This key isn’t guaranteed. You can’t just walk into a room and expect it to be waiting on the welcome mat. But there are a few ways to raise your odds:
Finish the dartboard puzzle in the Billiard Room. It rewards you with a key-related prize. Sometimes it’s this key.
Draft item-heavy rooms like the Closet, Walk-In Closet, or Attic. These often have goodies inside—possibly including the Secret Garden Key.
Draft a Locksmith shop. You can buy Special Keys here. Not all of them are garden-related, but the Secret Garden Key is part of that loot pool.
Grab a Music Room. This room always contains a regular key and a Special Key. With some luck, that Special Key could be your ticket to the garden.
What the Secret Garden Key Actually Does
Despite the name, the key doesn’t open just any old locked door. Trying it randomly will usually do nothing except waste your moment. There's a trick to it, of course—because this is Blue Prince.
To figure it out, you’ll need to unlock the Apple Orchard Permanent Addition. Inside, you’ll gain access to the gardener’s hut. Read Robert Nogula’s logbook (yes, it’s real), and you’ll find this little gem:
“There are eight green rooms in the house that require upkeep. Most are draftable only on the perimeter—specifically the East and West wings. The Secret Garden is one of them.”

How to Actually Use the Secret Garden Key
Now that you've done some light reading and interpretive deduction, here's how to use the key the right way:
Draft a room on the East or West outer edge of the house. That’s the only place the Secret Garden can show up.
Make sure the room’s door is locked. If it’s not locked, the key won’t be used.
Select the Secret Garden Key when prompted to unlock the door.
If all goes well, you’ll walk into the Secret Garden—a rare room with its own secrets and rewards.
Final Blurb
This key’s a bit like gardening in real life: it takes some work and the instructions are vague at best. But if you manage to draft just right, the Secret Garden is yours to explore. Good luck finding it before your house turns into a hallway museum.
