The Axe is one of the best items in Blue Prince—if you can find it. It permanently removes the Gem cost from any room. Here’s how to get it and use it without wasting your only shot.

How to get the Axe
The Axe can only be bought at the Armory.
It costs 32 Coins when it appears. (The Armory’s stock changes every run, so it’s not guaranteed.)
To unlock the Armory in your draft pool, solve the chess puzzle at the Underground Precipice and choose the Knight’s power. This gives you the Mantle of the Knight, which adds the Armory to future drafts.
Tip: The Armory also sells other good stuff like the Morning Star and Knight’s Shield, but save your Coins if you’re hoping to grab the Axe.
How to use the Axe
Open your Room Directory.
Pick the room you want to remove the Gem cost from.
You’ll see an Axe icon in the lower-right corner of the room’s description.
Click the Axe. The room’s Gem cost will now say ‘Axed’ forever.
What room should you use the Axe on?
You only get one Axe, so pick carefully. Best choices are:
Trophy Room
Vault
Throne Room
Attic
Cloister
Rotunda
Passageway
Pick rooms you draft often or ones with high Gem costs.
