Is KLETKA Worth Playing Solo? Here’s What We Think
KLETKA is a horror survival game where you play as a criminal sent to the massive Gigastructure—a living, dangerous building. Your mission is to descend deeper and deeper while keeping your living, hungry elevator fed. The game is marketed as a multiplayer co-op experience, but can you enjoy it solo? After spending time with the game, the answer is yes, though it comes with some important points to consider.
A Unique Solo Experience
Playing KLETKA alone feels different but can be just as enjoyable. The game adjusts its mechanics to make solo play manageable, unlike some other games out there. For instance, tasks like escaping from bear traps or defusing mines take less time when you’re alone. This small change really helps balance the difficulty since you don’t have teammates to rely on. However, dying in solo play is permanent—there’s no one to revive you, which is a massive downside.
How to Start Solo
Starting a solo game is quite simple. You can host a private session to play alone. Unlike many games, there’s no character creation. Instead, you’re randomly assigned a character with three crimes on record. Surprisingly, these crimes give your character positive traits, like better stamina or faster repairs. Once you begin, your task is straightforward: feed and maintain the elevator while exploring each floor for fuel and tools.
Challenges and Hazards
Each floor in KLETKA has unique hazards and enemies. Some rooms may have impostors trying to steal your items, while others contain storms or environmental dangers. Regular enemies lurk on most floors, and you’ll need to stay alert. The scariest threat is the Samosbor, an unstoppable anomaly that forces you to retreat to the elevator. When the screen shakes and you hear a rumble, run back to safety immediately.
You’ll also need to manage your resources carefully. Fuel is vital to keep the elevator moving, and the elevator itself takes damage as you descend. Repair tools like wrenches and extra fuel can be found by exploring floors thoroughly. Skipping too many floors at once can leave you stranded without enough resources, so stopping often is needed.

Gameplay Loop
KLETKA is a roguelike game, meaning you’ll likely die and start over many times. Death is permanent in solo play, so you’ll need to think and learn from your mistakes. Don’t expect to conquer all 100 floors on your first try—it’s part of the game’s design to challenge you to do better each run.
On the brighter side, some floors have shops where you can spend bottles (the game’s currency) to buy useful items. Put some thought into deciding how to spend your hard-earned resources.
Is Solo Play Worth It?
KLETKA is definitely worth playing solo if you enjoy survival games with high stakes. The lack of teammates can actually make the game more immersive and tense (if that’s your thing). The randomized character traits, resource management, and constant threats all are great for someone playing alone.
However, it’s important to know what you’re signing up for. KLETKA is unforgiving and doesn’t hold your hand at all. If you’re willing to face challenges and learn from failure, you’ll find a lot to enjoy playing solo.
